Default Do we have a way to block....

the .top domain emails on port 25?

It would be nice to block at the domain. IP blocking is an option, but they're using a lot of varied blocks all over the world. If I turn spam blocker back on then virus blocker goes back to being useless and I would rather have the virus blocking working.

Just looking for an easy way to take the load off the email server.

Configure your mail server to reject that domain.

There really isn't, that's the job of a mail server, to look at an SMTP session and make a decision. Cutting the SMTP conversation off at ehlo does save a ton of work though, so it will reduce loads. That is until you say no 100 times for one message instead of just receiving it, and throwing it away.

Country blocking was added to the firewall, tld would be nice to. I understand it's not the same thing so you needn't spend time on a long explanation of tcp packet construction to me. Spam is annoying and the constant dns lookups from the mail server filters against Untangle are annoying too, as are the ids logs... etc, etc... it might be worthwhile considering tld blocking because now it's going to get into the thousands and most of them will be spammers.

Well, that's what the tarpit is for.

But, you really want mail servers playing with mail, they're just better at it. TLD blocks on mail generate all sorts of new issues when used on mail. Mail servers don't usually react well to SMTP sessions just not working, and you'd have mail just vanish.

I keep forgetting Untangle's not store and forward too.

Sigh. I wish spam and virus blocker would both work at the same time.

They do, just install them and turn them both on.

    Not on mine.

It took me a few months to realize what was going on but any email marked spam was not scanned for virus, that's an issue because this international business gets many valid emails that are, reasonably, marked spam but are not, it requires high level diligence on the users part and they make mistakes sometimes.
