Default Pointers on Z4w cable modem install

I'm supposed to get my Z4w delivered Dec 24.
I've got an Xfinity cable modem. Could someone please give me some pointers on how to set this up? I have also a Macbook Pro and can connect it to the Z4w via ethernet.

Is there a pdf manual for Untangle somewhere?

    Thank you.

If it’s the xfinity modem/router combo. Then, You will need to call xfinity to have them put the modem in bridge mode.

Then you should be able to set up Untangle in its normal router mode. The external interface of the Z4w will pick up a public address from the modem since it's in bridged mode.

There is no PDF manual for Untangle that I'm aware of. Be sure to give some consideration to CMcNaughton offer to schedule a product review.

I thank you. Do I have to tell it which port is lan and wan is I think my main question? Or is it already designated?

Ya. I wish there was a pdf manual for offline reading .

    Thank you very much.

It's been awhile since I did an installation, but if memory serves and if nothing has changed, the installer gives you an opportunity to designate LAN and WAN interfaces. I don't recall if Untangle, like Debian, defaults to assigning WAN to the active interface.

If you opt to wait to configure the network after the installation is complete, Kyawa has pointed you in the right direction.

Well then if you have to configure ports how do I know which to connect my Mac to set it up if nothing is configured?

Set it up using a monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
