Default How to redetect a different mouse type?

Untangle v5.3 installed while connected to a USB KVM. No problems with the install.

Now I've got it connected to an older KVM which uses a PS2 keyboard cable and serial mouse cable. No problem with the PS2 keyboard, but the serial mouse is not detected.

Can I force detection of the serial mouse? Merely rebooting the Untangle box was not helpful.

    Thanks!

Ps2 can be tricky depending on the hardware.

You may need to power off, wait, then power back on.
You could also try a ps2 mouse directly, just to rule out the kvm

Thanks for your quick reply, but the issue is with SERIAL mouse detection; the PS2 keyboard is detected ok. I'm leaning toward reinstalling while attached to the production KVM unless there's a Linux trick for re-detecting hardware.

Yes, I'm a complete Linux noob.

Issue is now moot. I swapped in a KVM cable with PS2 mouse connectors. All is well.

    Thanks!
