    Default UT and UPS support

There is no released support for a UPS in Untangle.
Can someone please post a step by step instructions on how to install apcupsd?

I can't seem to get it into the UT box. I have very little *nix knowledge.

    Thank you.

I would also like this. My concern is that it could some how hurt performance of the system or hang it up. I would be great if this was a standard part of the system.

Does linux not have a generic UPS service like Windows? I just assumed one was buried in there...

Well I don't know how patient you are but I'm in the process of building a server bank with Untangle defending it. I have another in service already with an APC UPS in place. I'm going to have to tackle this one myself at some point...

Any pointers would be appreciated. I still consider myself a Linux noob, despite my avid use of the command line.

This sounds like something that the Bullet who is Silver would usually post an incredbily easy to follow step by step guide for. He's been rather quiet lately, I wonder what he's up to!

I bet there are some generic linux services that can probably accomplish this...
I don't know anything about it though.

    Well, here is the wiki:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apcupsd

    and the main program page:

    http://www.apcupsd.org/

...if anyone wants to go for it. I wouldn't mind getting this up and running but right now, I'm working on Server 2008 goodness and Cisco QoS/Zone Based Firewall fantastical-ness.

I want to UPS my untangle server/router --- and since I am very new to Linux and Debian/Untangle -- has anyone done this? What happens if an Untangle Auto update takes place - will the apcupsd daemon stick or will it need to be reinstalled?

Anyone have a link to a Debian sarge port [for Kernel used by Untangle] of apcupsd ?

I found the following Installation and Configuration of a APC UPS using apcupsd interesting -- but a great deal of info contained within I do not understand.

I need a Linux GURU to help out.

I found a version that runs under Debian Lenny

    apcupsd (3.14.4-1lenny1)

If I install this system under under Debian Sarge there are unresolved dependencies so the application will not run and I do not have the expertise [as yet] to resolve.

    What are it's dependencies?
Vote here to have wireless included in Untangle.
