    Default "Authenticated by" question

    Installed latest version (clean install)

When I log in to administer remotely and mouse over my status line (in Firefox), I see "Authenticated by CN=untangle.example.com"

Not a big problem but it should probably be changed. Is this based upon the certificate? If so, I have already regenerated a new certificate but it did not change the popup so wondered what I missed.

I believe this is based on the hostname setting on the hostname tab.

    Hi Dave,

I had already changed that tho' and it hadn't made any difference. I wonder if it was because I didn't set it at install time and now it's embedded somewhere?

untangle.example.com is the name used to generate the self signed cert. It won't ever change in the area you've seen it unless you install a signed certificate. Then it will say authenticated by "blah"... verisign, thawte, whatever.

    Thanks,

I'll stop worrying about it then.

You can even generate your own certificate, not using a paid service and change the untangle.example.com to whatever you want... but if you don't use a recognized cert, you will get the " warning " .
