    Default Installation Problems

    Helo,

I am starting the installation of UNTANGLE and get the following message:

Welcome to the KNOPPIX live GNU/Linux on CD!

    Running Linux Kernel 2.6.22-15-untangle.

Total Memory available: 2021080 KB, Memory Free: 2000820 KB.

    Scanning for USB/ Fireware devices…..Done

Can’t find KNOPPIX filesystem, sorry. Dropping you to a (very limited) shell.

    Press reset button to quit.

    Additional builtin commands available:
    cat mount umount
    insmod runmod lsmod

    knoppix#

What may be happening? What should I do? I have little experience in Linux and this is the reason to choose the UNTANGLE!

    Thanks

it probably because your disk controller or some other hardware isn't supported. Do you have another box to try?

(If your brave you can give the 6.1 beta installer a try - its posted elsewhere and has a different installer)

Make sure that the sata controller is not set for raid. Make sure the boot order is set to cd first, then HDD second. Take anything else out of the boot order. Pray. then try it again. There is something that the bios is doing that untangle doesn't like.

I had a very similar situation, I ended up using v5.x CD to install and then did an upgrade, and everything has worked fine (other than it did renumber my NIC's, but that was a simple fix).
