Upgrade to 6.1 failure / recover quarantine

Hi,


One of our UT boxes has just upgraded from 6.02 to 6.1 and went belly up. The config was very simple so we have just reinstalled 6.1 onto a fresh drive keeping the old drive for data recovery. We have recreated the config from documentation but we require to recover the emails from quarantine that were on the old drive and restore them to the new drive. This would give the users all their old quarantine emails. Might seem strange but quarantine may well hold good emails that have so far not been checked by the users.

A search of the forum has failed to provide any answers.

We're using the open source package without backups.

I haven't tried, but ... YOU can try it...

copy the entire /usr/share/untangle/quarantine/ from the old hard drive to the new one, reboot and see what happens...

I'd be curious to see if that works. I know the parts to untangle used to be a lot easier to play with till people figured out how to get premium services for free. Since then I thought everything was locked down pretty tight.

It's still open source, locked down is a very relative term. The only thing that changed really was the branding module which in the past was always built in. Now it's a module so you don't get it unless the UT back end says GO.

I'm glad they locked down! Nobody should be "trying" to find ways to get premium services for free! That's bad, bad, bad!!!

Tried to do this with 5.4 to 6.1. Nearly 3 gigs or quarantined spam. Moved it and replaced the summary.open file. Rebooted untangle checked quarantine in gui but nothing is present.

Any suggestions?

No I agree with you, this community owes its existence to the commercial side of the project. One of the reasons I have a harder time placing UTs in the field is I refuse to sell the darn thing without the support agreement. UT deserves to get SOMETHING for each unit placed into a professional working environment once the "trial" period for the device is done.
