Default L2TP client - Assign Fix IP

    Hello
I have setup IPSec/L2TP VPN server on untangle.

Clients can connect successfully but they get random IP from vpn pool.
I want specific user to get specific IP when ever it connects to this server.

How do i assign specific IP to user?

    Thanx

Why? Are you trying to setup firewall rules to control access per user?

The VPN Client name is a "username" for the firewall, so you can configure rules that way.

There are certain applications which user will going to use only work with static IP.

If user's IP change then their application will stop working.

OpenVPN is a better choice if you need each client to get the same IP every time.

But then Mobile users will need to rely on 3rd party apps, same with windows clients.

Yes, but that 3rd party app is 1000% more reliable too. The L2TP protocol is a nightmare of inconsistencies and limitations. OpenVPN sidesteps all of that.

    ok, i completed openvpn setup.
downloaded client software, installed on remote pc (client) and untangle shows client connected.

But client not able to ping anything to devices behind server.
I tested in with IPSec, it was working well.

Am i missing something with OpenVPN?

Are the device the target of the ping have Windows firewall on? If so Windows will not respond to ping from an IP outside of it's netmask. On IPsec, the local IP is used.

I would post screen captures of admin/index.do#service/openvpn/server and one of the /admin/index.do#config/network/interfaces
