JasonJoel liked post by sky-knight On thread : Must click power button whenever power goes out
You're not wrong, but there are other devices in that rack that need proper shutdown too. Heck, in some cases even switches need proper shutdown these days. But just watch, we won't get NUT, but...

JasonJoel liked post by johnsonx42 On thread : buffer size limitation
Also, I should say "not a very good implementation of the update mechanism". I still think IPS 14.1 is great. But an IPS being offline 5% of the time isn't so good.... if it's not possible to...

JasonJoel liked post by sky-knight On thread : Unifi & Untangle in Transparent Mode = VLAN issues!
Yeah, you're way off the reservation... Untangle doesn't bridge, it broutes. You need a complete routing table, and if you want multiple bridges to work you need WAN Balancer with source route rules...

JasonJoel liked post by sky-knight On thread : The new IPS in 14.1
In my case the reason this happened was the VRRP clustered Untangle servers in question are not only Internet connected, but have a private link that attaches to branch offices. This link is also...

JasonJoel liked post by cybrwulf On thread : OpenVPN when arriving at home
What a person really needs is an "intelligent" Openvpn client that knows to shut down when on the home network, or within your home perimeter.

JasonJoel liked post by sky-knight On thread : Remote admin on non standard port
Because no matter what, the service is running on TCP 443. The Service tab creates a port forward rule behind the scenes, and your IPTables rules need to match the real destination. So you make...

My oldest son ... it was the VPN of the week for him that he would try to get around Untangle ... if he did not move out when he was 18 ... he was grounded till like he would have been ... 80 :)

Yah, I just added one of these myself, without Googling it ;=) It just works. A hand-drawn network map might be usefull as well, just for Thoroughness. Thank you for your patience, through...

The new version of IPS in 14.1 actually works! Signature: reject tcp any any -> any 25 (msg:"ylmf-pc";classtype:unknown;sid:1999999;gid:1;content:"EHLO ylmf-pc";nocase;) TCPDUMP from WAN...

JasonJoel liked post by dmorris On thread : Application control not blocking port 53 that is not DNS
Yes, this is a great idea. Just port forward any port 53 traffic destination interface = external to your local internal IP address. It will answer (and forward) all DNS. Anything else will just...

More like unplug it and forget the thing even has the ability to be used. That being said, Untangle does turn the display off, there is no screen saver but it does power save and shutdown the...

JasonJoel liked post by sky-knight On thread : Multiple Subnets
That's a VMWare issue. Check your VM's properties of the virtual NICs in question, under each NIC you're probably configured to automatically generate MAC addresses, copy each one and configure each...

I've seen this many times and never been able to pin down a pattern, I think it's just luck that has two units of yours do this. It's usually the browser ignoring a redirect, refresh or a cache...
