Edge Threat Management Forums - Arista Rules

Welcome to the Untangle Forums.

Please invest a few minutes into reading the rules and suggestions below. I know, reading rules and suggestions isn't fun, but it will improve your experience and you'll get much better help!

1) Keep it civil. No personal attacks.
2) No spamming. Commercial solicitation rules and guidelines are here.
3) Do not post instructions on how to switch to "expert mode."

Untangle reserves the right to ban any users.

Now the good part...

How to get the most help out of the Untangle forums:

1) Keep in mind that these forums are for the most part a volunteer operation. Help is provided by community members like yourself on their own time. Untangle customers with live support entitlement should use our support line and not these forums. While there are Untangle employees here, they are here for the most part on their own time.

2) Please search before posting. You'll find that most of the questions have already been asked and answered. While we try to maintain a good tone around here, folks do tend to get cranky answering the same questions over and over. Old threads are automatically closed after a certain amount of time. Many old threads are obsolete and may not apply to recent versions.

3) Consider reading the documentation! Remember, the help button works and is contextual. If you click on Help on any given place in the administration UI it will open the documentation on those settings!

4) If you are asking a network related question. Draw a network diagram. There is no way anyone can provide useful suggestions without knowing how your network is configured. gliffy.com and draw.io provide online tools to draw easy diagrams. You can read a guide to drawing a nice network diagram here.

5) Provide information. We have never solved "it doesn't work." Describe what happens and what you expect and want to happen and how that is different. If you aren't sure where to start just describe what you see on your screen and how it differs from what you expect to see. If your post includes the string "not working" or "does not work" then you probably have not described your issue correctly.

6) Ask a question. While this may seem obvious, it is a common issue. A collection of statements is not a question. No, your question is not obvious nor implied. Ask it explicitly.

7) If you want help start your own thread. Do not post "me too" in other threads and expect help.

8) Don't obfuscate or provide fake information. ("a.b.c.d" is not a valid IP). Its hard enough helping with partial information. If you are concerned with sharing the information necessary to troubleshoot, contacting support via a private email is a better option.

9) Please don't double post or bump. If you don't get any responses, read the above rules again. You already did that right?

10) Getting help online is not always easy. If you work in technology it can be an absolutely invaluable skill. It is a worthwhile investment to read this guide and this article. Most of these suggestions apply to the Untangle forums.
