Well if the interfaces are bad, Linux should know about it. Pull up the terminal or SSH in and do an ifconfig. The error stats are right there with everything else. Here's some sample output so you know what you'll see.

    Code:
    eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:90:0b:xx:xx:xx
              inet addr:174.79.xx.xx Bcast:174.79.xx.xx Mask:255.255.255.240
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
              RX packets:318317897 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
              TX packets:224530104 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
              collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
              RX bytes:2394658611 (2.2 GiB) TX bytes:2490475749 (2.3 GiB)
              Interrupt:16 Memory:fe6e0000-fe700000
You're looking for errors, drops, overruns, etc. That said, if these counters were iterating the admin UI has an admin alert now.

I thought of that, as I have had that error appear in the admin panel in the past. Ifconfig and the admin panel were 100% clean.

I contacted Supermicro 1.16.13, and received an RMA auth the next morning. I emailed them back confirming a cross shipment last night at 5:44PM EST. Today at ~12:00 PM FedEX is at my door with my replacement (shipped from San Jose, CA to Fort Wayne, IN)! Kudos to them. This is the 1st time I have ever had to have an RMA issued from Supermicro, and needless to say I am very happy and impressed.

Before I had asked for an RMA, I did verify there was some sort of hardware malfunction in eth0. After loading Ubuntu Live 11.10, I would still get terrible packet loss when pinging inside or outside the network. Swap the cable over to eth1, and the problem went completely away. Untangle, just finished installing a few minutes ago, and everything is smooth as butter. No issues, no packet loss. I am just waiting for an upgrade to finish, and it will be packed up and deployed this weekend.

    Thanks for everyone's help.

    Jon
