Default High ping times - any way to check what is causing?

I was wondering if it's possible to identify the causes of high ping times using Untangle.

Occasionally I notice high ping times (250ms +) for periods of time (say half an hour or so). I'll often get calls from users when this happens complaining that web browsing is slow - which it is of course given the high ping times.

The high ping times always settle down again - usually I find it's because a user was watching an online course or synching some files with Dropbox or something like that, which is perfectly acceptable.

Is it possible, using any of the Untangle apps, to identify such causes of high ping times whilst the issue is occurring? Say for instance is it possible when the ping times are high to look at a certain log to see what might be hammering the bandwidth?

    Thanks

What version is the Untangle? Do you have QoS enabled? Do you have Bandwidth Control installed?

I would at least enable QoS. Otherwise whichever PC is first to take all the bandwidth, gets it.
