    Unhappy webserver was down ?!

I have an untangle 5.2 and after i setup it i found that if the webfilter blocked the website it can't show me the block information page. it told me

This program cannot display the webpage

    Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
    The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

I can find that the URL has been jumped to the untangle's address at that time.

I've tried to telnet the untangle server's port 80 and it told me:
    C:\Documents and Settings\tomtao>telnet 192.168.200.41 80
Connecting To 192.168.200.41...Could not open connection to the host, on port 80: Connect failed

But I can still login the system by the https and the SSH (I've started the ssh service in the init.d)

i think the webserver on the untangle is down? How can I restart it?
Or any other reasons. Any one can help me! Thank you so much!!

Why are you telnetting to port 80 on the Untangle box? Are you inside the your network or outside?

But I can still login the system by the https and the SSH (I've started the ssh service in the init.d)

If you can login with HTTPS, the webserver is definitely running. You need to clarify where you are trying to access Untangle from, and what you are trying to do. If you are trying to do remote admin from outside with http, you will be blocked. From inside, it may work depending on your settings. HTTPS access to remote admin would work from inside or outside BUT its not clear where you are or what you're trying to do.

for example, when I was using the untangle 5.0
if I blocked the website with key word which is "yahoo". then I visit the website http://www.yahoo.com the untangle will show me the page and tell me the website was blocked because of the keyword "yahoo". Even I can write a message on the page and tell people to contact IT guys.

Now the problem is the untangle can't show me the page. I can see the yahoo.com's URL was jumped to the untangle's address like "http://192.168.200.41(the untangle's inside interface's ip address)/webfilter/blockpage.jsp?nonce=d9d4114a77d86dfa&tid=9"
    But the IE showes

Navigation to the webpage was canceled

    What you can try:
    Refresh the page.

It seems that the untangle's 80 port was not open or the webserver on it was down.
I can't telnet its 80 port and visit http pages on it. but I can telnet the 443 port and access the managerment platform.(all from the insite network)

I think you have the cables reversed.

    cables reversed?
I can login this untangle server's management platform. and in fact it works very good in every functions... I'm using it to do webfilter and protocolfilter. it works so good!
After I do the /etc/init.d/ssh start I can login it with SSH protocol.
So I think the link layer is all right.

The only problem is now we can't see the block information page... and it seems that the http server is down...

I think he's right - you're cables are likely reversed.

    Are you in bridge mode?
verify that your cables aren't backwards or that your internal network isn't plugged into the DMZ port.

My untangle server is in the route mode and it has only 2 interfaces
one is the outside and another one is inside
I don't have the DMZ ports
I setup this untangle server between the L3 switch and the ASA firewall help to do webfilter and porotocol filter.
It was well and I still can't see the block information page..
I will reinstall it and maybe something wrong inside...

This normally happens if you disallow http administration from the config tab. Try enabling it if you disabled it.

This happened to my Untangle box several times. I'm not sure if this is really the way it should work or something.

    Hope this helps.
