Default Bridge Mode - what am I missing?

Best I can tell, bridge mode setup is simple:
External interface: Config is "Addressed" - used an available address for the internal (LAN) network. Set up with "Is WAN = True".
Internal interface: Config is "Bridged" - bridged to External interface.

I ran a patch cable from one of the LAN outputs of the router to the External interface.

I used the Untangle browser to try to call up a web page (Google, what else?). Says there's no internet connection.
Plugged a laptop into the internal interface, gave it another LAN address - no internet.

    What am I missing?

After a few hours of banging my head against the wall, I thought I'd try something familiar. I reconfigured the External and Internal interfaces as though it was just a regular router. Had it working perfectly in 2 minutes. So, I gotta assume the Untangle server works, the network adapters, etc...

Are there other settings somewhere that might need tweaking? The whole thing is getting silly...

Do you have the External as DHCP or static?

Honestly don't know what I did, but it's now working.
Put it into router mode, tested OK, then set it back to bridge and it din't work.
Rebooted the firewall and the UT bridge mode started working.

<Shakes his head> I am such a fool some days....

    Thanks for your input...
