Networking - Hostname - Different Between Google and Google Domains for Dynamic DNS?

Hello,
I'm unclear on the difference between these two choices and corresponding service. Can anyone help clarify why I would use one vs another?

one is protocol=googledomains
the other is protocol=dyndns2 with server=domains.google.com

as specified here:

you will need to experiment to find if one of them actually works.
