    Defender has nothing to do with this, no AV product can protect you from a crypto assault. Only isolated and properly monitored cloud storage can do that. Onedrive does it natively, along with a profile direction scheme that not only seamlessly provides universal access to all the user's stuff, but also provides the rollback needed to undo a crypto attack.
