Default Interface Events - Up or down Interface

I have been having some issues where me home network loses internet randomly for about 30 seconds to 2 minutes a couple times a week. I suspect is the ISP or the ISP equipment based on the fact I can get to other devices on my network and also to the inside interface on Untangle which is the last device prior to ISP equipment when these events occur. Is there a way to set a alarm or see a log entry if the outside interface on my Untangle box loses connectivity to the ISP cable modem. I figure if its rebooting I should see the interface down. I have been searching but I don't see anything to do this or anything in the forums for this. Thanks.

You need the WAN Failover module to do this. You define a test and it runs, Untangle will log the results over time.

Use WAN Failover with a ping test to the modem IP.

Ok, thank you. I have worked with other equipment where it detected the physical layer being down and recorded it in the logs. I will try the WAN failover. I appreciate the help.

The interface won't go down though, not unless the cable modem / ISP device also powers down or is unplugged.

If you're losing link status... you've got big issues well beyond a WAN test.
