Default IP for VLAN parent interface

    Hello Untangle Community,

What is the best practice for the IP addressing on a VLAN parent interface? I initially just used a bogus 10-net address but then also tried disabling the parent and that seemed to work fine.

Is disabling the parent the recommend method when all IP is on the VLAN interfaces?

If you don't have a need to pass untagged traffic across the trunk, you don't have to configure an IP there.

In my case, I've used this Native VLAN (Cisco speak for untagged VLAN) as my management VLAN for all my switches and access points.

Yeah, the parent interface can be set to "disabled" if you don't want untagged traffic on it.
