    Question LACP issue

    Hello,

    My setup is the following:

    Untangle-1G eth1->Core layer->20G LACP SFP+->Access Layer

    Iím trying to have Untangle connected via LACP (2G) for both bandwidth and redundancy purposes to my CORE LAYER, however when I bridge ETH2 to ETH1 all sort of problems start. Important for you to know my entire infrastructure behind Untangle is Meraki (switching and wireless).

    One last thing, I did enable STP on bridged interfaces in config->advanced

    Anyone able to shed some light please?

    Untangle DOESN'T support LACP at the moment, Untangle Bridges are not traditional L2 bridges and they will not work with LACP.

    If you need more bandwidth, use compatible 10G interfaces. For redundancy use another UT with VRRP.

    Thanks I just learned that, IMO i've always just used a 10g nic...

    The only way to do this currently is to put Untangle in a VM on vSphere or other hypervisor.

    You terminate the LAG on the hypervisor, and pass a virtual NIC into the guest OS.

    TYA for your input. Although this is not what I wanted to hear, at least now I know LACP is not supported and issues had nothing to do with my configuration.

    Voted, although I doubt these votes are going to have any influence onto their roadmap considering their limited development resources

    Event then, I would just increase BW, I would not add any redundancy (although very unlikely either the logic board or the cable would fail tbh). I suppose LACP is what you would expect as STANDARD these days, this is the 1st time I come across a platform that does not support it.

    Untangle doesn't do layer 2/3 stuff terribly well.

    But in this case, I don't care. LACP more problems than its worth. Redundancy of connectivity in a local wire closet? Why? If you have a fault there, you've got larger issues.

    Besides, if you want fault tolerance of the router, you don't use redundant links to a specific device, you use VRRP and multiple devices.

    I have the exact same issue with using RAID in Untangle. Waste of time, put that money into a second appliance.
