    Thanks for the Speedy reply.
Is there a vague time frame of when it could possibly be implemented by?

    Thanks

    Brainz,

There is a solution for all you want and, perhaps, more than this.
First, think if you are ready to spend $60K up for it.
It will not only let you see what your users are doing but to set up automatic policies as to limit their bandwidth according their weekly, daily or hourly use.

Please let me know first if Untangle people agreed to state the name here and then if you really need it and are ready to invest.

These are open forums - you can post whatever you like.

I doubt he's gonna want to spend $60k though.

there are good bandwidth throttling solutions out there that will help you with some of these things listed, like netenforcer but wont report what files are being downloaded and whatnot but will help you throttle certain protocols (even rc4 encrypted bittorrent) and give you a per user throttling and reporting as well, not 60k but still by no means cheap.

Here is what I get off my Sonicwall's that has provided very valuable troubleshooting info:

    Bandwidth Usage by Service
Bandwidth Usage by IP address (internal addresses)
    Web Site Hits

Currently UT gives us web site hits. Bandwidth reporting by user as suggested by Brainz would be great. I use the Bandwidth Usage by IP address to quickly find the offending system when sites have latency or bandwidth utilization issues.

    Default throttling would work

I agree that throttling may be a solution. We've been using NetEqualizer for quite a while now and have been able to bring all bandwidth abuse under control. It has some reporting features. They start at around 2K and go up to 8K or so depending on what you're looking for. The 60K solutions are those like packeteer, which will probably be too much at this point (both in what you need and in what you want to spend).

Sorry to bump an old topic but this would be a great addition to the product...any word on the development of it?
