Hmmm... You can go to Config > Backup/Restore and Backup your current config and then reset to factory defaults at the console > Recovery Utilities. Once it's finished, restore from your backup and open the terminal go through the password creation process again.
i drove to the office and performed the backup and restore to default the system. but after i was all done the system still will not let me setup different password in the terminal window. What am i doing wrong? When i open the terminal window it prompts me for a password and when i type the password that i think it is the window just disappears. there has to be a way to get into the untangle and reset it. i also tried the email after the factory default process. i am stumped.
It should have prompted you to Enter a password once to set it and then again to confirm and once more to login. This should happen the first time you open the terminal.
You could also do a fresh install now that you have a backup. You did save to another location other than the Untangle Server itself right?
My plan is to reinstall from scratch tomorrow and then us the backup to put all the settings back. i will post my results tomorrow. Not my idea of a good time the day after thanksgiving
Did you do the password creation part? That is a separate process from backup and restore.
i reinstalled the system from scratch and i was able to connect to the box over ssh i will try to get the files tomorrow to see why it will not email me the logs or why i cant get test mails. Thanks for all the help so far. i will post the results soonOriginally Posted by mdh

This looks like it's a godaddy.com setup from what I was able to find and it appears that quite a few people have problems getting relay setup on the server side in their admin panel of godaddy. Check to make sure that your authentication settings are correct. But this looks like you are going to have to resolve this in your godaddy settings.
Maybe someone here has some experience relaying through smtp.starfieldtech.com. Otherwise, I would contact godaddy for assistance with making sure you get your account configured properly so you can relay through this server.
Alternatively, try another relay.
should it not work if i set it to use the direct email method. it dose not i tried several accounts some gmail some yahoo some att.net. i have ran out of accounts maybe i could just get the send mail directly to work. can anyone help me with that.

You can try to send directly. It's pretty cut and dry. Just choose "Send Mail Directly" and enter the address you wish to receive the mail.
Or, are you saying that the email doesn't go through with this method either?
When you set it to relay through gmail... did you change the port to the correct port and was your account settings entered correctly?
Do you have any problems emailing from an email client such as outlook? If not, what relay are you using with it?
