I awoke this morning to find the same '500 - Internal Server Error' after it appeared to update overnight.

In checking further I found a stock /etc/apache2/mods-available/jk.conf had overwritten the UT file, resulting in mod_jk not working.

Replacing the file with the jk.conf.dpkg-old restored access to the WebUI where I could see there was still an upgrade available. After completing the upgrade I see it also replaced the jk.conf properly.

Not sure what happened or why there was seemingly a partial upgrade resulting in the UI becoming unavailable but all good now - just in case someone has similar.

Can somebody share that fix please?

Is it now safe to try again?

Create a support case. They "fixed" me remotely. I am not sure what they did.

I think I am going to wait a bit to perform the upgrade again -- unless someone else can tell me that it now works painlessly

Well, i just got done clicking the shiny "Upgrade" button. You know the one, the button that lures you in winking and smiling at you, teasing you to click it even though you know full well that clicking it could be the end of a great day, or could be the beginning of a long weekend troubleshooting or even replacing a bricked device.... It (the upgrade) worked flawlessyly this time and no. one complained the internet went down.

I have to say, todays upgrade was so much simpler and less time consuming than enterprise gear from the likes of Checkpoint and Palo Alto.

Kudos to the Untangle Team for a great product.

Does the current upgrade issue have anything to do with running it on Untangle HW vs 3rd-party HW?

You'll need to create a Support ticket. The fix requires CLI administration and we aren't able to give out commands or instructions, unfortunately, but it is a quick fix once the ticket is in.

This post indicates that the answer is no.

And, it should be good to go now.
