Default 100% cpu on process v86d

    Hello,

There is a process called v86d which is consuming 100% cpu on 1 core, what is this process used for ? I just kill the process but not sure if that impacts functionality of untangle ? (read it is used for splash screen during boot ? but disabled splash screen, v86d still running after reboot)

    https://packages.debian.org/sid/utils/v86d

Did you enable SSH? Because this to me screams either defective device driver, OR you've been compromised.

No ssh enabled.. the install is fresh, installed just a few hours before I made this post (with iso downloaded from untangle website) ..

Also installed an older version of untangle (version 14.2) and then upgraded to the latest version this one doesnt show the problem, only difference is it is not installed with efi but bios..

Does untangle need v86d to function properly, or can i just uninstall it ?

v86d is a support service for a driver, if you disable it whatever driver needs it won't work.

I would simply install it BIOS instead of EFI, if you've upgraded from an earlier version and it's working leave it. But on reinstall, use BIOS instead of EFI because that obviously fixes it for whatever you're using.
