bypass rules / firewall

newb question here,
Do bypass rules completely bypass the firewall app, or just custom rules in firewall?

"Bypass rules" bypasses the sessions form the Untangle VM and Untangle Apps.

Thanks Web, looked at that before posting. It doesn't outline what is bypassed via firewall though. I assume bypass doesn't create a DMZ-like environment, but just trying to confirm

Untangles firewall is an Untangle App so bypass sessions will be bypassed for that app.

so, DMZ??

Bypass is not DMZ. Bypass is still managed by the Layer 3 rules in Config -> Network. Bypass is not scanned by layer 7 rules in the apps of the UVM .

Can you expand on the Apps included? Firewall is under the APPS category

Firewall app is a bit deceiving as it acts as a traditional firewall but on Layer 7. The firewall rules of non UVM type routers is in Config -> Network -> Filter Rules. These are layer 3 rules for filtering.
