    Question How to troubleshoot internet outage every few days?

    Hi all,


    This happened two times in the past week. It happened few more times in the last couple of months, but I was thinking it was due to Untangle not being rebooted in while.
    Internet goes out, and my Xfinity modem shows that it is online and has no issues using Xfinity web interface. I can access Untangle using 192.168.1.1, but no other devices on the network have internet.
    Rebooting Untangle does not bring the internet back up. Every time I had to reboot the modem as well to get back online.
    How can I narrow down what is causing this?

    You already have, the ISP device restarting "fixes" it. Replace that device.

    Failover is reporting a failure based on the test selected. If it requires a reboot of your ISP box, the issue is with the ISP.

    Thanks for the replies!

    I will contact Xfinity and see if I can get new modem. I'm sure they will ask about specific error log. Is there anything in Untangle that will give me specific error message?

    Internet is down every X days, I reboot this mess and it comes back again... that's all they should need to know. Normal home users don't have this level of detail.
