Question Help or guidance to upgrade hardware from 32 to 64 bit keeping configuration

I have run untangle free at home 'since the dead sea was just sick'.

The original 7.0 install was 32 bit but over time hardware was replaced and the 'newest' Intel hardware supports both 32 and 64 bit.

I would like to move the 16.01 untangle from the ancient HD to an SSD and upgrade the Linux to 64 bit on the same computer.

I attempted to do a clean 64 bit install on the SSD with untangle 16.4 from USB but got stuck at setup.

    Currently...
    Code:
    Linux untangle.example.com 4.19.0-8-untangle-686-pae #1 SMP Debian 4.19.98-1+unt angle4buster (2020-05-12) i686 GNU/Linux
    .
    ~
    model name : Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6750 @ 2.66GHz
Note: Tested the computer with SSD & 64 bit OS and it ran fine.

    Default

    Take a configuration backup,

    Go here: https://wiki.untangle.com/index.php/...wall_Downloads

get the SAME VERSION and install a fresh brand new 64bit install of it. Restore your backup to that, upgrade it, and pray really... really hard.

I usually use VMs for this.
