    Default Please kill magic links!

Oh man this annoying "feature" has bit me in the butt way too many times recently.

When you put in a link as www.microsoft.com

The darn forum changes the link text to be the title of the destination page. This gets massively annoying when you're trying to explain concepts on these forums with hostnames. Leave the thing turning that text into a link... but replacing the text is just flatly annoying.

    EG...

    Code:
    www.visi.com
becomes Minneapolis Colocation - St. Paul Colocation - Minneapolis Managed Hosting - St. Paul Dedicated Hosting - High-speed Connectivity - DSL - Minnesota Web Hosting | Duluth | VISI

    www.visi.com

If you do a "preview post" you can correct it after it magically messes it up. At least for a temporary work around.

When not explaining host names and such I love the magic link thing.

now when you mouse over it shows the forum title for internal links.
    external links are just links

(MikeTrike, you can still specify custom text if you want)

    Thanks!

UT is a network product... and when we get into a myriad of places it gets rather nasty to have the thing changing the links on you... the sad truth is that www.whatever.com isn't a link... it's a DNS name and the forum software doesn't know the difference. So when it changes www.whatever.com into "Whatever we want to make it" as a link...

Well it makes our jobs much more difficult as we get to go back and edit every stupid instance in the post to fix it...

I know you understand this dmorris I'm just putting more words around it so others may understand why I get so frustrated.
