Default Connect to Untangle Database or Export Data for Reporting

    Hi,

I am finding that the reporting aspect of Untangle does not fulfill my needs from a HR and Disciplinary point of view.

Is there a way of interrogating the data in the database to generate my own reports in something like Crystal or even Access?

    Cheers

    Sean

Since all the data is available in the Postgres database, your report generation technology choice is more free.

    Cheers Juank,

How do I get at it, is it documented anywhere?

If you ssh into untangle or are on the terminal "psql -U postgres uvm" will get you a postgresql prompt on the untangle database. Running "\d" will tell you all the tables that are available. To get remote access to the database you will need to modify /var/lib/postgres/pg_hba.conf This is done in the standard but somewhat complicated way documented at http://www.postgresql.org/docs/7.4/i...ive/index.html

sweet... so much for needing the "enhanced reporting" module. Me and that SQL are going to have some fun.

    Thomas,

    Regarding your post http://forums.untangle.com/showthrea...light=postgres

I have a question: I just can get to connect to my Untangle test box 5.2.1 using an ODBC driver.

Looks like in psql 7.4.7 there is no "listen_addresses" option for the /etc/postgresql/postgresql.conf file.

How do I make this instance of Postgress in Untangle to llisten to another ip other than localhost 127.0.0.1 ?

/var/log/postgresql # ps -ef | grep postgres [root @ untangle]
    postgres 1747 1 0 03:47 ttyp0 00:00:00 /usr/lib/postgresql/bin/postmaster -D /var/lib/postgres/data
    postgres 1751 1747 0 03:47 ttyp0 00:00:00 postgres: stats buffer process
    postgres 1752 1751 0 03:47 ttyp0 00:00:00 postgres: stats collector process
    postgres 3993 1747 0 04:03 ttyp0 00:00:00 postgres: postgres uvm 127.0.0.1 idle
    postgres 3994 1747 0 04:03 ttyp0 00:00:00 postgres: postgres uvm 127.0.0.1 idle
    postgres 3996 1747 0 04:03 ttyp0 00:00:00 postgres: postgres uvm 127.0.0.1 idle
    postgres 3997 1747 0 04:03 ttyp0 00:00:00 postgres: postgres uvm 127.0.0.1 idle
    postgres 3999 1747 0 04:03 ttyp0 00:00:00 postgres: postgres uvm 127.0.0.1 idle

I really want to contribute with the REPORTS part... Thanks

    Default Any results?

I've tried editing the files and setting the proper parameters, but still cannot connect from my XP box.

Networking is fine, as I can ssh into my UT.

    Help?
