Post Xfinity + Vonage + Orbi with 3 Sattelites + NOOB

    NOOB Warning.

I have purchased a fanless device on amazon that has 5 1000Mbit eth ports, 256 SSD, 16gb RAM that seems perfect for Untangle. It only has wired networking. I am trying to decide how to setup my network so that:

    1) I will be able to see and possibly block any and all inbound/outbound traffic (I had 1 computer get infected with a virus that got my IP put onto a black list for spam for several weeks). That seems fixed, but could happen again. I love untangle's geo-ip lookup map.

    2) I can filter all traffic for my children's sake, mostly illicit and vulgar websites, to be able to give my sons otherwise unfiltered access to the internet. They are learning to be programmers.

    3) I can access the management interface from my wireless lan, broadcast from 1 orbi router and 3 orbi sattelites.

    4) I can connect my vonage phone to the network wherever appropriate for my small business line.

I purchased a license for untangle and am also willing to pay at least a few hundred dollars to someone to walk me through the setup from end-to-end till it's working. I cannot be down for even a whole day due to the online business my wife runs.

Reading this a few minutes later, I realized I should have pointed out that I am really wondering about the network layout.

What mode should the Xfinity Cable Modem be in?
What mode should the Orbi router be in?
What mode should the Untangle appliance be in?
What should be behind what device(s), etc?

    Thanks!

You referring to Untangle NGFW or SD-WAN?

Hmm. Seems you are correct. Apologies. I'm re-approaching untangle after several years. I didn't realize they'd even come out with this product. It is the firewall, which means this question is in the wrong location.

Call Comcast and request the modem should be in bridge mode with the wifi off.

Use router mode for the best set of abilities available.

    Layout :

Comcast modem <--> Untangle <-> Orbi access port and all LAN PCs.
