Sorry to bring up older posting, but I did not see a resolution from Untangle. I too am doing the workaround of passing "*foldingathome.org" in the Web filter even though the logs do not show it as...
It's been, what? 10 years?!? I was here 2007 to 2011 (or thereabouts)
Yeah, and Untangle is still the best bang for the buck over a decade later.
Ahh... I remember the days coding...
Not what is currently posted in the forums.
However, my new version of the script (being rewritten from ground up) will.
The new script is early in development and may not be available until...
I'm still guessing that too many emails are hitting your server and that there aren't enough SpamD children to process them all fast enough... so it just lets the message go through unchecked. -- and...

Don't forget, you'll need to enable SSH to be able to log into the box. You can find instructions to do that in the wiki:
http://wiki.untangle.com/index.php/Enable_SSH
You'll find the J&J Script in the SpamBlocker forum here. It is one of the topics. Just keep in mind that you should NOT install the BOTNET option if you have WAN users sending email through your...
As for the J&J Script, it enables several network-based scans and adds a few additional rules to the SpamAssassin engine built into SpamBlocker.
It isn't "documented" (I know -- shame on Juank and...
Contact Dirk (or one of the other Untangle guys). I can't find it right now, but there is a grep you can do on the UVM logs to see if/when the system is failing over to "pass" the email due to load...
Untangle doesn't do that well on catching spam right out of the box. It takes it a while to catch up on rule updates and such. Also, I *highly* recommend the CommTouch add-on. It will dramatically...
You can use the SpamC plug-in for Exchange and then set spam to go "buh-bye" if score is over such-n-such. I've done this in the past and had SpamC point to Untangle's SpamD service. Worked well.
I run Exchange and turned off TLS/SSL on port 25. Port 25 only allows inbound non-encrypted emails.
I then opened SMTP/SSL port 465 and set it to only allow authenticated access (not just for...
If your email server is on the LAN side of Untangle and it is sending out to GMail, it doesn't get handled by Untangle. -- Go check the Policy Manager, it should have a default to bypass outbound...
There is a setting to deliver directly, or to use a smart host. Sounds like you were using the smart host before and now need to change it to deliver directly.
You can also see the raw log files by using WinSCP. - Use caution to not accidentally change / delete any files.
The additional "vulnerability" you are exposing yourself to is very minimal as long as you are running anti-virus on your computers.
What a "bad" program can do to get around virus scanners is to...
Ischfroth,
Untangle ONLY monitors port 25, 110, and 143. So any email traffic (whether standard, or custom) that uses other ports, will not be scanned at all.
I hope that helps.

If you turn off the reports app (power button on app in web browser), it'll still send them to you each morning.
A friend uses Untangle at home and doesn't care for reports to be mailed. When his...
Yes, unfortunately, they have been abandoned.
My new network configuration now uses Untangle for only web-browsing virus/phishing filtering which the stock configuration does just fine.

Craisy Daisy,
Try increasing the max-children to 20. If that doesn't help, then you'll need to use the following solution:
Turn ON tarpitting (this is a must).
Switch SpamAssassin to only run...
Turn off the "tar pit" option and test again.
Yes, it is a problem with IE8 (and also IE7 "compatible" mode of IE8).
I made a comment in Bugzilla about FuzzyOCR log files... I don't know if it was corrected in 6.2 or not... and am too lazy to go look :P
The script will not run on 6.2 until I have had a chance to confirm its reliability. If you have 6.2 and run the script, it should do nothing.... (neither install, nor uninstall)
My box hasn't...
Sorry about that. I had the server down this morning to replace the RAM. It is up and running again.
Craisy Daisy,
You'll find your answer HERE.
