Almost sounds like a user is flooding untangle and slowing it down.

here it is in internet explorer 9, seems ok on firefox on my home PC, will double check on my work laptop later, as that was the one where it looked small and blurry.

It's ok, it has been fixed now, the interface doesn't like being set to 100 full duplex in networking, it likes being set to auto. Which solved all speed issues.

Not really, if you just accept all the defaults. That's what I done. Never had an issue. :)

You need to run the install of untangle in expert/advanced mode.

That way you can tell it to use the full drive during the install. By default it only uses the first 80GB in a standard install.
