you can tail /var/log/exim4/mainlog while you release emails from quarantine, it should shed some light on this.

For this to happen, mail must pass through the Untangle again, so I think you have some odd SMTP routing loop going on.

/var/log/exim4/mainlog should help you figure out what is going on. Well as my "how to troubleshoot mail" post on this forum. http://forums.untangle.com/tip-day/5...oot-email.html

Did you use the public DNS name for Exchange? Or the Internal IP address? Please use the Internal IP of exchange when Untangle is in front of Exchange. Otherwise, things get a little silly sometimes.

thank You Everyone after going through all the ideas turns out the smtp was set to go to the outside domain name I changed it to the internal IP and the loop stopped.

Now to look in my internal DNS to see why it was looping back out instead of internal.

Thank You everyone that was a life savor.

Well, enabling ssh, and getting into the box, I figured my problem out. Someone initially set our MX record up for servername.ourdomain.gov. We added a 2nd which is for ourdomain.gov and all kinds of mail started working. Externally it's set up properly, but it wasn't internally. Quarantined emails are now releasing properly! Tailing the exim4 mainlog showed the problem.
