Exclamation Enabling Spam Blocker causes SMTP timeouts

I was automatically upgraded to 6.1 recently and began getting alerts that my mail server was unavailable. I did some routine testing (telnet to port 25, mailflow check etc) and everything worked ok.

Then I started getting delayed messages when trying to send to my mail server. Even my telnet to port 25 tests would fail. I disabled Spam Blocker and BANG everything goes back to working like a charm. I enabled Spam Blocker but disabled tarpitting and still I get timeouts.

I am new to Untangle so I don't have the experience to troubleshoot what exactly is causing this issue. Of course we need Spam Blocker and tarpitting in a big way.

    Where should I start?

Craisy - If you try www.mxtoolbox.com and input your mail server is it able to connect (with spam blocker enabled)?

I was recently upgraded (within the last 24-48hrs) to 6.1 as well, my mail is flowing OK, and when I check it through a site like mxtoolbox.com it shows a valid connection, however when I try to telnet to it from outside, I get "connection error 10061". As stated mail is still flowing through to my internal mailserver on port 25, being scanned..etc. I have not tried turning off the spam module to see the effect.

    Anyone else having similar issues?

With Spam Blocker enabled I can run the diagnostic test successfully only 60% of the time. The remaining 40% generate this error:

No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it

With Spam Blocker disabled, the diag test works 100% from mxtoolbox.

Turn off tarpit and try again.

Same behavior, ~60% success rate from mxtoolbox.com and my external monitoring only had 3 successes before its first failure.
