Default HTTPS Inspector with purchased certificate

    Question:

If I purchase a signed Cert, can I upload this to Untangle to use with HTTPS Inspector, to avoid having to install it on all of my machines?

My worry is our Guest Wifi, which wouldn't have our certificate as we have no way to install it. I want to scan this, but don't have a way to install a cert for the users.

Or am I understanding this completely wrong.

You can upload the certificate to untangle.

However, this has nothing to do with the certificate authority it will use to sign the fake certificates it generates.

Alright, lets ask this a different way.

I've got my network, with a guest wifi vlan, all going through Untangle. It all works great.

Is there a way to use HTTPS Inspector that will allow Guest Wifi traffic to be decrypted, without having to install a certificate on each device connecting? Or am I not understanding HTTPS Inspector's process.

    Short answer is no.

IF the CA has/are Trusted and certified by WebTrust and follows the rules they can only provide u with certificates for your domain.
So getting a *.domain.com is ok but you need "*" or "*.*" And they cannot and will not provide you with it.

Ah, makes sense. Was worth a shot though!
