Question Google Chrome/Gmail Does not work on iPhone 7 but works on iPhone 7 Plus

    SSL inspector is enabled.

iPhone 7 Plus works without issues. Installed the cert and all is good.

    http://untangleip/cert

    All is good.

Windows PCs too ... all is good.

I do the same with my iPhone 7 ... no joy.

If in the SSL inspector I ignore Google ... then it works on the iPhone 7.

They both go through the same rack.

Other stats are in my signature.

    Ideas?

    They are different.

    i7 = 10.3.1
    i7+ = 10.3

With that being said, I have an iPad Air (the first "Air" model) that I have upgraded to 10.3.1. Cert works great. I have have a few other iPads (older than the Air) that work great with the cert too. Chrome and Gmail apps have been upgraded to the latest greatest on all.

It "looks" like from the SSL logs that the i7 is going to a completely different set of Google servers.

They are all on my network, I see my i7 in the Untangle logs.

Normal browsing does work on the i7 with Chrome; however, any "Google" related has Chrome whining about the certificate and it stops. I do a Google search and it stops for example.

Well, try as I might to create new certificates ... I just cannot get this to work.

I have had to create an exception "no inspect" rule for my phone in SSL Inspector.

Okay I take it back. My iPad and iPhone on iOS 10.3.1 do not work. All other iPhones and iPads 10.3 or lower work.

    Can someone else confirm?

many phones have hard certs now, so I do not use ssl inspector unless there is really a need for it and if you do prepare yourself to start bypassing

    You are probably right.

However, my kids use Apple phones/tablets in the home. It was nice to enforce safe search for example.

Needless to say, I will not be updating anymore iOS devices for a bit.
