Default GMAIL not working on iOS

    Hi,

I installed yesterday untangle, created a new certificate, enables SSL Inspector and installed the Cert on my PC (Windows) iPad and iPhone.

Somehow the PC is working fine, can access GMAIL, but not on my iPhone and iPad.

    What could be the reason?`

    Br,
    Johannes

Many Apps have hard coded certs now so they do not work with ssl inspector

For now yes but some apps on PC are also starting to refuse third party certs, but for IOS and Android you sure cant use them unless you start bypassing apps that do not accept the cert. Add a rule in ssl inspector to bypass gmail for your IOS device

In my personal opinion its a can of worms already , and if hard coded certs keep coming out it will keep getting useless, I just use the web filther as it does a great Job without using ssl inspector

    Thanks,

Then I will test the other untangle features, but I think I will then stay with OpenDNS and PiHole (+SafeSearch).

You could use the web filter and it works great without ssl inspector, that is what I use to block content

The main reason to use SSL Inspector for Web filtering is to scan the entire URL. OpenDNS or SNI (used by WebFilter) will only see the domain of the requested site, not the sub page.

    For example http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2...aign=editorial

SNI and OpenDNS will only see bleacherreport.com. SSL Inspector will see the sub directories /articles/2758525-pyeongchang-winter-olympics-2018-day-3-winners-and-losers.

    Hi,

Yes, this I understand. But if more and more Websites are not working with SSL Inspector or more and more "Workarounds" need to be defined, then it makes no sense anymore...

I am now testing also the other Services from Untangle. It looks very nice, but If SSL Inspector is not working, then I will stay with OpenDNS/PiHole.
