    Default duplicate apps, 9.2.1, and administrator alerts

    One of the things we added in 9.2.1 was "Administrator Alerts" which appear at the top of the rack if the system detects something is likely misconfigured, like your DNS settings are bad, or your bridge is backwards, etc.

    One of the more common ones is "duplicate apps."
    You can install more than one of one type of app into a rack, but it is rarely good to do so. The UI won't let you do this, but you can do it via the command line or backup/restore or a bunch of other mysterious ways evidently.

    One of the most common ways is users keep installing Kaspersky Virus Blocker, which is obsolete and will automatically convert to the new "Virus Blocker" at midnight when you are near the end of your subscription. Some users would then install it the next day, which would again change to a Virus Blocker at midnight, and repeat and repeat. I saw one server that had over 10 Virus Blockers in one rack.
    Doing this you could end up with many Virus Blockers all happily scanning traffic. Its not the end of the world, but it will certainly effect performance.

    In 9.2.1 when you have multiple apps of the same type in the rack they now all appear.
    Previously, you'd only see one of a given type so users didn't realize they sometimes had duplicate apps installed. Since this is misleading we now have the UI show all instances in the rack and also warn if there are duplicates.

    To solve the situation do one of the following:
    * Simply click on the duplicate app "Settings" and click remove.

    * If it detects "untangle-casing-*" is duplicated you will need to remove the duplicates from the command line as these apps aren't visible in the UI (they are responsible for protocol parsing). To do so run "ucli instances" to find the instance #. Then use ucli destroy to destroy the duplicate #. Then you will need to reboot.

    * Contact support and they'll gladly resolve it for you.

    Default Again

    I can't see the images at http://untangle.nu/wordpress/?p=47 or
    http://untangle.nu/wordpress/?p=85

    But I can go directly to youtube to watch them

    I am including pictures of my Web Filter Lite categories and pass list.

    I still do not see the images or links even if I allow social networking.

    Thanks,

    SidSid

    SidSid,

    It is only embedded Youtube links
    Code:
    <a href="<span class=" youtube"="">
    <iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="425" height="344" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0vFoSPkF4DI?wmode=transparent&fs=1&hl=en&modestbranding=1&loop=0&iv_load_policy=3&showsearch=0&rel=1&theme=dark&feature=youtu.be">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vFoSPkF4DI&amp;feature=youtu.be” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe>
    </a>
    So it should work.. :/

    Yes, just not in my IE9 browsers on two different machines.

    However, it does work in my FireFox Browsers . . . lol
