Default Maximum speed via TunnelVPN on WRT1900ACS

    Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has done testing and tracking of the max speed via the Tunnel VPN on the firmware version of UT.

    My testing is below:

    HQ/DC: 1Gbps duplex

    Remote Site 1: 100 Mbps down / 10Mbps Up

Speed testing using speedtest.net and real world monitoring has shown that downloads tend to operate around 20Mbps down and 6-10Mbps up on my RS1.

I was wondering if this was a CPU limit or potential traffic shaping.

    Thanks,

    Arch

CPU limits aren't consistent, and they don't come out to nice round numbers. So if you're seeing nice round numbers, that's probably QoS somewhere.

I use NordVPN via tunnel. Speeds are a lot slower when using tunnel vpn.

This doesn't have anything to do with TunnelVPN, it has everything to do with your VPN service. I have used Nord, TunnelBear and quite a few others and speeds are absolutely tied to what VPN service you use. I easily see 200Mbit speeds on my current VPN service using TunnelVPN. I have a 300 and a 100Mbit connection that is load balanced using Wan balancer. On the flipside, NordVPN is a highly recommended service across the internet and yet i have seen by far the SLOWEST speeds through that service no matter what NordVPN node I use.
