Hi, I wonder if the Virus Blocker (Lite) would slow down the network in any way? E.g. when downloading torrents (with lots of .rar part files) or generally having a lot of users downloading something.
Thanks

yes...as everything gtets scanned. you are going to need a fast multi-core cpu and more ram..how fast on the cpu depends on how many users and how many files they are going to be doing at once.
I'm on a dual core 2 duo 2,66Ghz with 2GB RAM. Any idea if that will do the job for ~4 computers with standard usage?
With ~4 users and "standard" usage, I have a box that is less than that working just fine. However in your original post you denote torrent traffic, now that 1 thing can take your whole network to a crawl, and we do not consider torrents as "standard" usage.
well..UT doesn't consider it standard usage. If you are going to be doing heavy p2p another product might be a better bet.
try just turning off .rar file scanning to test if thats even the issue.
your virus scanner is going to have to unrar and unzip all compressed files that get downloaded.
if you download thousands of tiny little rar files you're going to give it a lot of work to do.
